Supercharger Fundamentals
A blower or compressor, usually driven by the engine, for supplying air under high pressure to the cylinders of an internal-combustion engine.
A supercharger can be powered mechanically by belt, gear and shaft, or chain-drive from the engine's crankshaft. It can also be driven by a gas turbine powered by the exhaust gases from the engine.
Benefit of Supercharger
Its purpose is to increase the air-charge weight and therefore the power output from an engine of a given size.
